With a PoD between 1789 and 1815, is it possible for Spain to fall to a French-style republican revolution (deposing the monarchy and nobility, instituting a new national identity, commitment to spreading the rebellion, etc.), mostly through internal instability, a republican French invasion, or a combination of both?
What would be the effects of a "jacobin" Spain on communications with the country's overseas empire? Would Spanish America erupt into chaos and rebellion earlier?
What sort of historical elements would the Spanish jacobin regime use to justify its new national civic identity policy? Ancient Roman rebel Quintus Sertorius could be lauded somewhat, as a figure who in their eyes would have advocated for a fusion of Roman republican institutions and Iberian local customs.
Which Iberian minorities would the new Spanish republic be more tolerant to and which would it try to suppress? What about monarchist restorationist sentiment among a part of the Spanish population, which would be inevitable?
