WI: Reagan Wins All States, 1984

The election of 1984 was the biggest landslide in US history. The only state Reagan lost and Mondale won was Minnesota. However, that state barely went for Mondale, with a margin of victory of only 0.18%.
Mondale also won the District of Columbia, this with a much greater margin compared to Reagan to win 3 electoral votes.

What if Reagan had won Minnesota and possibly Washington D.C., and won an unprecedented total electoral victory in the states in 1984?

Republicans get to brag about Reagan wining all 50 states instead of 49 and he is revered a little bit more than OTL (if that's possible). Other than that, I'm not sure 0.18% of the vote in one state necessarily leads to any big changes.

I think that if Reagan wins everything, there might be allegations of "fixing the vote". Comparisons to the Soviet "elections" might happen.

Reagan winning DC is ASB. There are a large number of African Americans there, and they were not going to support a republican. Minnesota went barely for Mondale because it was his home state. I supported Reagan, but was glad for Fritz's sake that MN didn't reject him. Reagan got a more electoral votes than anyone else in history in '84. Alf Landon in '36 got the fewest, 8, compared to Mondale's 13, but Alaska and Hawaii added 7 more than used to be there, thus Reagan getting the most ever.

It wasn't being lazy. It was just not seeing the thread.

I demand your love.

Its by definition being lazy, you were too lazy to even see if the thread had come up lately. Not that this sort of problem is just you doing it, other people do it too. Its still lazy.

I don't really like lazy people so you'll have to fix that Old Sport.

Washington D.C. is beyond the ability of the Republican Party to pick, given they would need to be able to appeal to liberals and African-Americans in such a way that they would no longer be the Party of Reagan. A better bet would be D.C. voting for a third party, but even that is a stretch.

Minnesota doesn't require much of a push.

Suffice to say though, you are liable to see an even stronger push within the Democratic Party to move to the Right.
