WI: Reagan vetoed the National Drinking Age Act

1. Probably not - a veto might have helped Reagan with 18-21 year old voters
2. Not sure - The bill had a Democrat and passed with 81 votes in the Senate, but Congressional leaders might not have thought the drinking age was worth picking a fight with the President for.

Part of the reasoning that Reagan and Republicans supported the act that it was a way to stop the mandatory installation of air bags and that along with the mandate from the Department of Transportation to make the States enforce mandatory seat belt laws of they would lose Federal highway funding was also used to blunt the momentum to air bags.
All of which is somewhat ironic as car manufacturers found that air bags became a selling point that car buyers wanted.
