WI: Qutuz isn't assassinated?

What if Baibars hadn't assassinated Sultan Qutuz of the Mamluk Empire?

EDIT: Changed the question's wording to make more sense. What if he had a long reign? He seems like a very interesting guy, and a talented general (the man who defied the Mongols has to be).

I've only seen hagiographies of Qutuz so its hard to objectively understand the ramifications of his survival. Baibars, his successor, was an ambitious and effective ruler. Would Qutuz have offered to the Mameluke hierarchy an equally compelling path to glory and would he have been as effective in setting up the continuing structure of the Mameluke state?
