WI: Prussian/German Virgin Islands

During the late 1600's, Brandenburg-Prussia possessed a few small islands in the Caribbean such as Saint Thomas, Tortola, and Vieques (a part of modern day Puerto Rico). What if Brandenburg-Prussia retained these islands instead of returning them to Denmark? Also if Prussia kept them until and during German unification, what would be the effect of conflicts such as the certain-to-come Spanish-American War and WWI?

If we commit real butterfly genocide United States might takes islands very arly stage of WW1. This might mean shorter World War.

Brandenburg colonizing these islands would likely mean that anything we know as the US, the Spanish-American War, or World War I would never happen.

and Brandenburg would likely not be able to keep the islands, and Britain or France will likely take them.

Once WWI breaks out(but before US entry), the US offers to "buy" German islands in the Caribbean, with the implicit understanding that they'll be taken by force if they refuse. Being that they're indefensible and a waste of resources, the Germans agree.

Though this is absolute butterfly genocide, I agree.
