So for those of you who don't know, Prince Eugene of Savoy was one of Austria's most brilliant military commanders. Serving three Emperors and fighting in at least four major European wars, he was one of the best generals of the era. hat people might not know however, is that he originally wanted to fight for France but Louis XIV rejected this out of hand because of his mothers association with the L'affaire des poisons. Even the King himself said that the request was modest. So lets say Louis XIV holds his anger and allows Eugene to serve in France. How would having this commander of the French side change things? Would the Austrians still win the Battle of Zenta, thus driving the ottomans out of Central Europe or would the war stall again? Would France win the War of the Spanish Succession?
