WI: President Webster in 1841

In 1841, the Whig Party offered Daniel Webster the position of Vice President under William Henry Harrison. Viewing the Vice Presidency as an utterly useless and pointless office that would condemn him to years of obscurity, Webster declined. Amusingly, however, Harrison would die within 30 days of his Inauguration.

What if Daniel Webster accepted the position and Harrison died as he did OTL?

Good question. You certainly wouldnt have had the catchy campaign slogan "Tippecanoe and Tyler too".

The change from a southern tyler to a new england webster would be significant, im sure, but i dont know how, specifically.

No catchy Tippecanoe and Tyler too, for one...

Well, one thing that I think is certain is that Webster will delay the decline of the Whig Party and provide it with some momentum. John Tyler's allegiance flip took a lot of steam out of the party.

Well, Webster hadn't had his realization/conversion yet; the USA just got itself a hardline Abolitionist for a President. No slaves in the White House, Yankees in southern judgeships, and Clay unable to restrain him. I expect we'll see an earlier and clearer north-Whig and south-Democrat correlation, with slavery as THE issue of 1844...which likely butterflies away Polk and the Mexican War.
