WI: President Harding did not die in 1923

Let's say Oresident Harding did not die in 1923, and ran for re-election in 1924. By that time, the corruption scandals involving his administration would all have come out to hit him hard, but the Democrats were so divided that they could not possibly find someone that could possibly get close to defeat him. How would things go in 1924? Would Harding get primaried instead? Any possible map for the hypothetical election of 1924? If re-elected, how would he deal with his second term?

Probably a lot like 1872. After all, there's no evidence that Harding was personally on the take any more than Grant. He'll have to let several of his Cabinet go, though.

After that, depends whether he lives through his second term. If not, Istr that he was considering Charles G Dawes to replace Coolidge as VP, in which case President Dawes is re-elected in 1928 and the victims of the Depression live in Dawesvilles or Dawestowns instead of Hoovervilles.

Or Mitcheltowns or Blackfordburghs.

No way do the Republicans lose in 1924. The Democratic Party got the worst amount of the popular vote in its history. Even the Northern Democrats in 1860 beat 28%. La Follette is going to do better, and take some Republicans in addition to the Democrats he took IOTL.

I think this is Harding's absolute worst-case scenario, and I see him doing a lot better than this normally:

A professor of mine said Harding could have lived if they had taken him to a hospital. If he lives he steps down after the scandal breaks. Herbert Hoover Wins in 1924.

Warren Harding 1921 - 1925
Herbert Hoover 1925 - 1933
Same as OTL 1933 -

In this scenario, who would be most likely to be running against Roosevelt (assuming Roosevelt even decides to run) in 1932?

I started a thread a few weeks ago on the exact same topic.
