WI:President Gore

I think it Al Gore is a trap in AH. He could have won. Easiest POD in the book. But we tend to think PoD equal things going different. But that don't happen to be true.

He have to respond to 9/11* and I think it would be hard responding less harsh then the Afgan war given the public sentiments at the time. Iraq is a coin toss so you could argue both ways.

They say he would have a hard time signing Kyoto (it requires aproval of the Congress and/or Senate). He would have spent money on alternative fuel or something but I dubt it woud have given a result yet.

And he would have spent on schools and health care but I don't think he would have gotten trough universal healthcare.

All of those things (with the exeption of the Iraq war) is things Bush did. Gore will do them differently but I belive that would be a case of butterflies.

* Presidents don't fight terrorists Air Force One style.

I'm sure that things now would be much better. I did a thread like this before too. Gore should have won, but at least Obama will be able to fix things.

Immediatly a Gore presidency would be somewhat better without the Iraq War but later on an intact Iraq could cause trouble and headaches for the US.

DBWI: A look back at the Gore administration.

With the inauguration today of President Romney, the focus today is, of course, on the former governor of Massachusetts rather than on the outgoing President Gore.

Romney today inherits the Gore recession, unemployment exceeding 10%, wars in Afghanistan and Sudan which seem unwinnable, a bankrupt and broken healthcare system, and a weakened military, both in strength and in morale.
