President Bernie Madoff would take political corruption to whole new levels that would make other slimy politicians jealous.
The issue with Madoff is that his fraud was very simple. It was a pyramid scheme that needed constant new investors.
That collapses like a house of cards when the slightest scrutiny is applied. The guy didn't even have a valid registration number with the FTC. Running a campaign would unearth this quite quickly.

America would have a Trump like President decades earlier..and he ruins the reputation of the Party he runs in.
Jerry Brown or Trump win in some way and make him an economic advisor. Then he became Treasury Secretary and he's the designated survivor during a nuclear 9/11 attack. He lost in a landslide in 2008 when his fraud are revealed and he's arrested shortly after.
I think it is possible if Bernie Madoff becomes a TV Personality while doing his fraud..
