Following the Second World World, there was a brief period where there was no a Cold War. This was fleeting, and even during this brief period, it became evident the Soviets were planning to keep the nations they occupied as satellite states with puppet Marxist governments allied to Moscow. And the Soviets would try to ferment Communists in other nations across a broken Europe and its former colonies. What followed was a world which would be divided between a Free World (if only because "free" of Communism) and a Communist world with a Soviet hegemony (and to a lesser extent Chinese), with neutral states in between.

What if the Soviet Union did not emerge from the Second World War as the superpower? What if there were not the Iron Curtain between East and West in Europe?
