correct me if im wrong,but wasent japan treated nicely because the americas wanted to use it as a foothold in asia AND to stop the spread of communism?

Japan would still have been “Treated nicely”, rebuilt and restructured as a democratic country and a bastion against Communism.

The idea that the Emperor was irreplaceable and integral to the Japanese nation was Macarthur’s and was based on his egotistical belief that he knew the Japanese mind.
