WI - Portuguese establish land corridor between Angola and Mozambique

What if the Portuguese Empire managed to establish a land corridor between Angola and Mozambique via OTL Zambia, Malawi and possibly parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo (Tanganyika, Haut-Lomami, Lualaba and Haut-Katanga provinces)?

Both with Mozambique as it is now as well as a potentially reduced ATL Mozambique (featuring the provinces of Niassa, Cabo Delgado, Nampula, Tete and Zambezia) likely as a result of conflict with the British.

It really would depend on what happens in South Africa. If the British position in the area is weakened (Boer able to push back against the British or Dutch South Africa) then there is a chance.

Otherwise the Portuguese will need to be much stronger economically and better positioned in the region to achieve it.

Basically envision the ATL Boers surviving by pushing back the British and further expanding to include OTL Rhodesia and the southern parts of Mozambique, with the ATL British gaining Cape Province, Botswana and later Namibia.

What would the Portuguese area likely be called and what impact would there be with a land corridor between Angola and Mozambique?

The "Cape to Cairo" vanity project was the most immediate push for British occupation of Bechuanaland and Rhodesia, so keeping Egypt from becoming a British protectorate (maybe French protectorate, keep it unified with the Ottomans, more capable as an independent state, etc.) and minimizing British interests in East Africa will make things easier for the Portuguese. Maybe have some prazeros move further along the Zambezi and onto the Zimbabwe Plateau (starting in the 18th century at the latest).
