WI: Porfirio Diaz doesn't promise to step aside

In 1908 Porfirio Diaz said in an interview with an American Newspaper that Mexico was finally ready for democracy and he would step aside and the next election. OTL he didn't keep that promise, which than sparked the Mexican Revolution.

What if he doesn't make this promise, or says that Mexico isn't ready for democracy?

IOTL he died in 1915. Without the stress of a civil war he might live an extra year or two, assuming butterflies don't spark a different civil war. What happens after his death? Is there a smooth transition into another dictator or possibly into democracy or do we see violence either between the people and the government, or between different factions within the government, or possibly both?

Mexico's problems with Profirio Diaz started with the French invasion. That whole thing hard screwed the country and the flower of mexican youth was obliterated. Mexico's best and brightest and most educated people where gone, and Diaz decided he needed emigrants to come in and make up the difference. Mexico was a damanged post war hell hole so he had to make and keep promises to get them in.

As a result Mexico became the mother to emigrants and the step mother to mexicans. This was arguably nessary but it could not last forever those policies were making people more and more angry with time and sooner or later the country would blow up.
