I was talking about this subject to my dad a while ago. Left-wing populism in particular has had difficulty in attracting a nationwide following; Corbyn comes the closest, but even he doesn't entirely fit the bill. The most celebrated socialist government was led by Clement Attlee, who was pretty much the antithesis of a populist.
Generally, left-wing populism has been restricted to local and/or inner-party levels: think Livingstone, Hatton, Galloway, Benn and Salmond.
