WI: Politicians Treated Like Celebrity

Politicians for the most part are not treated like rock stars and don't have their private lives as hounded as relentlessly as RL movie stars and famous people.

How do we get a change in the culture where politicians are treated like celebrities and get the same ammount of gossip and column inches dedicated to them in the house wife magazines?

Well, you could have more politicians who used to be celebrities, that would help. At first it will be the older ones but given enough time, younger ones might run for office too.

Royal families gets this treatment. Maybe the rise of political dynasties will give a similar effect...

I think that if politicians were treated like celebrities then celebrities would be treated like politicians. Their debates would be watched and talked about among people who like that kind of thing, while most people prefer to talk about the lives of the secretary of agriculture and his new suit.

Have you read the British Tabloids? Cameron's bicycle been stolen etc. They had a car follow Boris Johnson all around London to catch him breaking the rules on his bike. Politicians in the UK certainly get hounded as they bloody well should be.

I'm sure there are probably parts of the world where this is true. Perhaps places where their politicians are more interesting, or where their celebrities are more boring.

Well, I don't know... "hounded" in their professional life, yes. But not in their private lives, I don't see how that's anyone's business.
