In OTL, the Kingdom of Poland and later the Commonwealth of Poland/Lithuania became known for it's religious tolerance and subsequently it's large population of Jews.
But was the religious tolerance of Poland/Lithuania inevitable? What if the Polish monarchy/nobility opted to echo the rest of Christian Europe and expel their Jewish population and maintain such a policy for the long haul?
The absence of Poland as a refuge would surely channel Ashkenazi Jewry to the only remaining refuge in Europe, namely the Ottoman Empire (or perhaps another state?). What's the best POD to accomplish this? And how would it affect the development of Poland/Lithuania and the rest of Europe?
