WI Piłsudski arrested on Poniatowski bridge?

One of the most important events associated with 1926 May Coup in Poland was the meeting between President Stanisław Wojciechowski and Marshal Józef Piłsudski on Poniatowski bridge in Warsaw. Piłsudski demanded the resignation of Witos cabinet and wanted to enter Warsaw without bloodshed. He was refused and skirmishes between Marshals’ and pro-Government forces started that evening.

WI President Wojciechowski ordered the pro-Government troops (AFAIK the only ones present during the meeting) to arrest Marshal Piłsudski?

First, Piłsudski had his officers, who were probably armed. Second, I'm not sure if the soldiers would have execute such an order. To oppose Piłsudski's forces was one thing, but to arrest living legend... Not to mention the fact, that the order would have been considered unhonorable. Aftrer all, you can not arrest a negotiator.
