General consensus on solo Phil Collins is that he wrote "In the Air Tonight" which is awesome beyond belief, but then proceeded to spend the rest of his solo albums writing some of the most dire, but gazillion selling shlock ever recorded that many people use as one of their first examples of why 80's music sucks.
Suppose he avoids the overproduced ballads and silly fluff tracks of OTL and releases a few widely praised albums in the vein of "In the Air Tonight." It's not like he didn't have the talent to do that if he wanted to. What are the ramifications?
