WI: Pershing dies of Maleria.

in OTL John Pershing caught Malaria, probably in Cuba while surving in the Spanish-Merican war, and survived.
But let's say he didn't, and died March 1899.
How would this affect the Phillipine-American war and the USA's entrence into WWI?

any ideas?

(not sure if it belongs here, because the POD is before 1900, but the events it may effect are after)

Not a whole lot- it's hard to tell if anyone would have acted differently in the Philippines and it certianly would have no effect on the USA's entrance into WWI.

Phillipines maybe nothing changes, you're right.

But he was the secound choice for Comanding officer of the AEF in WWI. now with Pershing and Fredrick Funston (the first choice, he died which is why pershing became choice #1) dead, who does that leave?

Also, how may this affect George Marshall, and George Patton, who Pershing worked closely with, and to a lesser extent, Omar Bradley and Dwight Eisenhower?
