WI: Performance of Allies in Europe if Canada has the same population as the USA

WILDGEESE

Gone Fishin'
A few weeks back I asked how WW2 would pan out if Australia, Canada and S.Africa had the same populations as the USA.

With this in mind, how would the performance of the Allies be W.Europe post Overlord if Canada had the same population as the USA?

Feel free to add the extra S.African forces if you wish.

Would their be still a Market Garden?

How would the Italian Front perform with the extra manpower?

Would they be able to get to Berlin before the Red Army?

Regards filers.

If Canada had the same population as the USA but still had the resources and climate of Canada, it would have been a very poor country like the early 20th century Russian Empire.

I don't see your point. Canada is loaded with natural resources and has a huge amount of arable land. Just like the Russian Empire, but the Russian Empire wasn't poor because it had a ton of resources and arable land.

I think we need more explanation in regards to the scenario. Is it just the population being increased or is the economy/industry also being increased in proportion with the population?

Quick question, why did the Canadian revolution fail OR why is the republic of Canada at war with Germany?

If their military apending stays similar as a % of gdp in the pre wwr years to otl i doubt it would have a significant effect on the early war. It would certainly cause a swing in 1941 onwards though.

Assuming of course the canadians are a loyal dominion of the empire.

It's hard to attract immigration to cut trees, be it in Canada or Siberia.

The Farming Areas might get to Iowa or Kansas levels of population density, a few million, that decreased as mechanization took hold on the farms

USA had ten times the population of Canada in 1940

I can't see how you get 130 million people in Canada by WWII without massive climate change, Asteroids, or 48 State Confederacy

Getting moved to ASB in 3...2...1...

ASB isn't the same as implausible.

On the other hand, OP is going to be told the same as he was last time, that any world where Canada's population is the same as the U.S. (or the U.S. is a British dominion) will be so different from ours that there's no way to even posit a recognizable WWII.

Modern Canada has a bit over 1/4 the arable land of the US, and about 1.3 hectares per person compared to the US's 0.48 per person. If Canada were populated more like Siberia, then there would be decent-sized cities of 75-200K people all over the northern parts of the provinces.
