So I've recently stumbled upon this place and woe is me for not finding AH.com earlier. I have a timeline or more accurately, a story about someone surviving this timeline and wanted to just put out some feelers to know how well it will be received and how plausible it seems.
Here's the basic premise:
==
November starts off with a bang as tension between the white farmers and black communities reach breaking point. During the Black Monday protests by farmers around the country against the active culling of white farmers and their families, violence breaks out.
This in of itself is not something that could spark a country wide riot, however, due to the simultaneous problems of a corrupt government system, utter disgust or hero worship of South African president Jacob Zuma as well as an ongoing water crisis, basic commodity breakdown and utter failure of all infrastructure needs like power and sewage, the influx of violence around Black Monday protests spreads.
Due to corrupt government and 'regstellende aksie', the SADF is all but non-existent and the police are overwhelmed. The only real effective fighting forces are garrisons situated away from any main population center, such as Upington, or a cohesive and large presence, such as Bloemfontein.
Operation Sinies (Cynical) gets a full green light by key personnel within the Ministry of Defence. White commanded elements seize significant if not all major elements of the 1st SA Armour and 1st Special Service Battalion in Bloemfontein. Conscription and training for volunteers crews starts immediately on farms around the town as they prepare to move west.
The air force, such as it is, is rendered inoperable. The 16th Air division is sabotaged and all but four Rooivalk Attack helicopters are destroyed. The remainder are ferried out to Upington Airbase where conscripts will set up a supply depot.
The SA Navy is relatively unscathed, the captains of all the Valour-class frigates simply already in the fold or advised of the situation. Three of the four submarines simply dissappear.
All military assets under the perview of Operation Sinies converge on the Northern Cape, and the start of the second boer war is in the making.

So I was thinking it could be an interesting TL, but I don't do or am not any good in politics. I figured I'd more concentrate on the military aspects, the way South Africans fight their wars and some basic wankage on their equipment... hopefully.
Thoughts?
