hey, all. once again, i was going through my notes and finally decided to explore something i'd written down. quote: "after James II was overthrown, the Jacobites tried twice to bring the Stuarts back to the throne: first an abortive rebellion in 1715, and then a nearly successful one in 1745"

anyway, after a quick read for preliminary research, i found that the Jacobites considered an alliance with the French which would have involved an invasion in 1744 and, later, in 1759. before i go ahead with trying to work on this possible part of the TL, i just wanted to get some second opinions on what the results of this could be. what immediately occurs to me is 1) if the Jacobites return to power in a revolution, there could very well be a counter-revolution, maybe even a second civil war and 2) related to the 1759 invasion in particular, this could have an effect on the Seven Years' War if it even happens in the first place since, presumably, Jacobite Britain would be allied to France if they helped restore the Stuarts to the throne. since it's important for the narrative i want to write that the Seven Years' War still take place, what does everyone think about if it would or wouldn't take place?
