WI: Pat Robertson ran as a Democrat

What if Pat Robertson’s 1988 Presidential campaign was in the Democratic primaries and caucuses instead of the Republican primaries and caucuses? He could be going for voters who voted for Reagan in the 1980 and 1984 general elections, but still voted in the Democratic primaries and for socially conservative Democrats in Congressional, State, and Town elections. His platform could be “God is angry at Wall Street”.

Is there any evidence that Pat Robertson is the kind of guy who would run on a left-wing, or even populist, economic platform?

And in any case, I think '88 is probably too late for the Dems to embrace a latter-day William Jennings Bryan. In 1984, they were already running ads in the PRESIDENTIAL election attacking the Moral Majority.

I do recall that Jesse Jackson in the mid-80s was anti-abortion. But that identification wasn't solid enough to preclude his dropping it for political expediency, and I don't think he was aligned with any other aspect of the Religious Right's agenda.
