Well, it depends how much more successful you are thinking... if you mean enough to take over France, I don't think that is likely at all. However, if the Commune had been able to hold out longer, this would have had implications for Thiers and his government, since the Commune would be seen as an alternative, legitimate government.

@ Anaxagoras: I really don't see* how you can call the Paris Commune anarchist. In the ideology of some of the leaders, yes, but not in what they actually did - that seems more mainstream socialism.

assuming WWI happens on schedule (possibly not as big a war, because of different alliances), the Russian Revolution or TTL version would be different, because IIRC they took a lot of inspiration from the Paris Commune.

Oh, that'd be interesting... although it's hard to see how they could do so,as in the long run they would run out of supplies. Wouldn't they?
