wi:Papal/Hungarian victory at the battle of varna

OTL the ottomans had a major victory. However, what if it went the other way way? This includes the king of Hungary/Bohemia surviving and King of Poland/Lithuiania sueviving as well, and if it can work, the Ottoman sultan murad dieing. so what is the major butterflies from this?

How about the Christians waiting until their army is better prepared? The only reason why they lost was because they were unprepared.

Depending on how big a victory you might see a Byzantine Empire that survives a bit longer, it would take a victory that pushes the Turks out of Europe to make it survive long term. It could also butterfly the rise of the Hapsburgs in Hungary and Bohemia which would have long term effects on Europe and the HRE.

The Byzantines could still collapse, even with a Christian victory though.

On the other hand, this PoD gave me this weird idea though: what is after the Christian victory at Varna, Constantine XI would wed Sophia Palaiologina to someone other than Ivan III? My potential candidates would be Stephen III of Moldavia, Vlad III Tepes, or some other candidates (as Sophia's older sister Helena would end up marrying Stefan Tomasevic of Bosnia), and I explored the idea of Sophia marrying Vlad Tepes.

Well if Murad is killed then that pretty much guarantees an Ottoman civil war, though how long or how destructive is anyone's guess. Really it depends on how big of a victory the Catholics have and if they can/will capitalize on it. If the Ottomans are more or less distracted, then we could see the Bulgarians manage to reestablish their independent state, along with Serbia regaining lost territory. As for Byzantium, unless the Catholics are willing to conquer sections of the southern Balkans AND turn them over to Constantinople, the only thing the Crusade would accomplish for them is a few extra years of life-support.

I was once writing a timeline based on this premise, but I abandoned it before posting for... some reason.

Anyway, my proposals were:

-some civil war among the Ottomans concerning succession after Murad; this allows Christian forces to capitalize on their victory and take part of Ottoman holdings in Europe
-breaking off between Poland and Lithuania; at the time of Battle of Varna Lithuania was ruled by Casimir Jagiellonczyk, brother to Vladislav almost independently. I think that surviving Vladislav would lead towards end of an union and creation of independent Kingdom of Lithuania, in conflict with Muscovy and Poland
-perhaps a more lasting union between Poland and Hungary
-creation of independent kingdom of Bulgaria under Hunyady as king (that was his supposed to be his reward in the event of successful war). I also think that he would be in a good position to gain later possession of Constantinopole after Constantine (?)- perhaps we could see the Empire based on Thracian and some greek lands?
-Poland takes possession of the entire Prussia in early 1450s - with a successful Crusader King, known for vanquishing Ottomans there is little chance that Teutonic Knights could recruit mercernaries with just promises, as they did in OTL 13-year war. Perhaps Vladislav would relocate the order to Black Sea, maybe Crimea? (Teutonic Cossacks? :D )
