WI: Pakistan gains Kashmir Valley and Ladakh in 1947

It would have happened only if India had remained a mute spectator when Pakistan took over the region. Only possibility is that the Maharaja Harisingh decided himself to join Pakistan and the popular leader of the Kashmir National Conference, Sheikh Abdullah supported him. But it was not plausible at the time. Even if Hari Singh had agreed to join Pakistan due to his aversion to the Congress and Nehru, Sheikh Abdullah who was a close friend of Nehru and who disliked Jinnah, would have opposed him and started a popular movement against it, forcing Lord Mountbatten to intervene. The result would have been unpredictable.
