what if the teutonic knights newer sucesfully take all of prussia
obviously the teutons and or the hungarian kings are going to send crusades and such but could the pagan slavs have held on longer somehow?
thanks for the corection
Well, the Lithuanians did hold out... uh, any medieval experts here that could tell us wether there were significanst tructrual differences between Lithuanians and Old Prussians? Christianisation is pretty much ineavitable, though, IMO, or else theyll just endure oen crusade after the next...
At this point in history, they have to Christianize, or be subjugated. Maybe if an Old Prussian ruler realizes which way the wind is blowing, and converts?

The existence of separate Lithuanian and Latvian languages is result of wars with crusades.I agree about the Christianization part. However, the extinction of the Old Prussian language may not be inevitable, given that we still have Latvian and Lithuanian today.
Prussians were some loose confederation, they had no ruler. Curonians were closely related, but not part of Prussians: http://www.vaidilute.com/books/gimbutas/figure-1.jpg . Originally Prussians were Sasna, Pamede, Pagude, Lubava, Kulmas (in map above), only after conquest by the Teutonic Order the name was applied to all conquered people.Possibly Poland, Lithuania, or Denmark would expand into the region, using Christianity as an excuse for doing so.
At this point in history, they have to Christianize, or be subjugated. Maybe if an Old Prussian ruler realizes which way the wind is blowing, and converts ala the Lithuanians, maybe there could be a native Balt state that arises. Curonia maybe?
