WI: Owen Hart doesn't die at Over the Edge

He was scheduled to win the IC belt, so that probably goes off as planned, and a few months later he quietly loses the belt (hopefully to Jericho, since Jericho really wanted to work with Owen) and retires, as he was planning on getting out of the wrestling business anyway.

Owen would have probably ended up in WCW to join with his brother, Bret. I know Bret tried a few times to get Owen, but he was in the middle of a five year contract with the then WWF. If this contract had expired before late 2000, I think Owen would have jumped ship.

After the WWF takeover of WCW, I imagine Owen would have waited out his (no doubt lucrative) Time Warner contract and would have either retired or had a short run in WWE around 2004/2005.

As for wrestling itself. Sadly, I can only imagine that stunts would get more and more crazy until someone else died in a horriffic accident like Owen's.

Owen in wcw would be a disaster. Look at what happened when davey boy smith and jim neidhart came in with bret, they were immediately jobbed out. Sadly, i can see the same thing happening with owen.

Owen would have been IC Champion for a couple of months, before he would have dropped the title on Jericho or someone else. After that, he would have left the business for good. Maybe he would try to bring his brother Bret and Vince McMahon together, so Bret might have given his comeback much earlier than IOTL.

Wrestling in general probably doesn't recieve such a knock that the death of Owen gave it. His death was a major scandal at the time and damaged the WWE significantly. Without that, it's possible the popularity of wrestling could maintain past 2000 when its popularity started to decline.
