I think it was
@Jürgen that did a thread on this, or commented on one, basically if Orkney and Shetland had stayed Danish and the world had proceeded like OTl (that is not taking account for any butterflies)
So historically both the Orkney Islands and the Shetland Islands had larger population numbers than the Faroe Islands, but due to difference between Danish and British policies in the 19/20th? century the Faroe Islands now boast a population larger than the other two combined.
I think the number being thrown around was 100.000 respectively, five times what they have OTL.
There was also a suggestion that if these three island groups, had been part of the Danish Realm, they would have made an effort of "acting together" presenting a unified front.
250.000 people is significant enough for at least Denmark not to ignore them.
