In April 1943 the Allies launched Operation Mincemeat in order to deceive the Germans and make them believe that the Allies planned to invade Peloponese and Sardinia (instead of Sicily which was the real target).
Allies took a body dressed him as a British major stuffed him with top-secret papers revealing Peloponese and Sardinia as targets and let him float near Spain so it could be found by Spanish who in turn would inform Germans...
In OTL Germans bought it and reinforced their armies in Greece and Sardinia leaving Sicily somehow vulnerable...
WI Germans were suspicious and didnt buy it? Could they have repulsed the Allied attack in Sicily (assuming they would have guessed right that the real target was Sicily)?
