WI: Operation Galaxia Carried Out?

It would have been a failure. Neither Tejero nor Ynestrillas had troops under his command, but for some policemen. Even worse, General Federico Gómez de Salazar, CO of the I Military Region, was against any possible coup, and he would have used the Armoured Division Brunete against the Putschists without thinking twice.

It would have ended up like OTL 23-F and perhaps forced Suárez's hand and cause a purge in the army. From then on..

Figured it won't due to the populace not willing to be under another fascist dictatorship; though I wonder if this makes any difference compared to the 1981 one? Will it speed up Spain's entry to the EU and NATO?

As far as I see, Galaxia seemed even less planned, even more crazy than the 1981 attempt. So, IMHO, it was fated to be crushed. About the entry in the EU and the NATO... if hardly three years after Franco's death you have a failed coup... Spain doesn't look as the most stable country. No, it wouldn't speed Spain's entry in those organizations, but on the contrary, it may slow a bit down.
