WI: OJ Simpson Trial Ends In Mistrial

I watched the miniseries on FX and thought the same thing. I'm glad someone started a thread

Here are my three outcomes:

1. The case still goes to Civil court as OTL. The dream team drags things out with various motions about OJ possibly being the victim of double jeopardy. The city of Los Angeles doesn't want to waste more money on a new trial and also drags their feet. The Browns/Goldmans get frustrated and go the civil court route.

2. Another criminal trial. The Los Angeles government brings in a stronger judge and prosecution team. Johnnie Cochran's theatrics get shot down. OJ is convicted.

3. Another trial with a hung jury or another mistrial. The case drags on and OJ walks and moves to Florida. Civil case dies also. OJ files for bankruptcy from legal fees.

I think if there was a more educated jury they would probably know something about DNA evidence. Automatically because Simpson's DNA was found at his home, in his White Bronco, at the murder scene mixed with the two different victims, etc. They would've convicted him automatically if it aware of what the difference between DNA and blood type were.

If the trial is given a second effort, new evidence is likely brought into the light. The first is his suicide note from almost being brought to jail. Second will eventually be photographs of him wearing certain types of shoes owned and used at the murder scene. His gloves were strong evidence alone that they were owned by him with the proof of receipt.

The evidence against him as the true killer was overwhelming.

I also think the evidence was overwhelming, but I recognize that conclusion is 100% dependent on believing that the evidence actually was there and not planted by Fuhrman, et al. The timeline of events weighs heavily in favor of it being genuine and not planted, but it is a slog to sort that out.

Honestly, the trial was less about Simpson and more about a way for that particular jury to stick a middle finger up at the LAPD for a lot of reasons that were unique to that time and place.

There absolutely would be a second trial.

I think he likely gets convicted in a second trial, but jury selection will matter a lot and it's no certain thing.
