WI: Occupation or puppet regime after France capitulated during WW1?

What? No. WHat makes you think "ethnic Francien" would die more than Occitan or Basque? The French army is not restricted to particular ethnic groups or something.
I mainly work on Austria, so I tend to think that when too many main ethnic people dies, the minorities would seek to break away.
Just realized I can't put that template on France.

Could the Germans encourage separatist movements in Britanny and/or Occitania as a means of "divide and conquer" in some sort of reverse Versailles scenario?
As said, Germany wasn't and wouldn't be very much interested with what kind political France they would deal with, as long as it goes along with the treaties conditions and demands.

But ... France might become "troublesome" in the followong time (years) due to internal fighting, who has to take the blame for loosing the war, due to a very "rough" economical problems (of which will most likely reparations to Germany play a big part of).
IMO ther could be a window of opportunity for regional autonomy-movements, maybe leading to a new kind of constitution in which these "regions" have much more ... autonomy from the Paris centre.
(Some of might even be exploited by Germany, maybe a "naval base"-agreement with an independant Bretagne ?)

However, this ofc depends on how "strong" such autonomy-movement were ... already at the end of the Great War ITTL.

How strong were they IOTL ?
Were there some "breton", "occitan", "provencal", "basque" or perhaps even "normandaise" movements to speak of ?

AFAIK, Basque have a rather strong independence movement in Spain, not sure about the France area.
Occitan had a small independence movement that weren't really taken seriously by the government.
According to wiki, as of 2013, 18% of Breton favored independence.

If Germany wins in 1914 in France
1. Germany occupies Northern France with treaty of some industrial areas in the north
2. Russia falls apart in maybe 1915 -- light German gains IE : Poland and Cortland
3. Russia falls apart in 1916 /17 -- BL treaty
4. England agrees to treaty with no losses and point 1 in place

Germany never had war plans in place and it moved all over the place -- plus u had conflicting groups that wanted different things
