WI:Occitan does not Retreat in the End of Dark Ages

Is it possible for Occitan to remain to be Spoken on Poitou and Bourges just like before the retreat of Occitan what would be the consequences of that.

I think you would have to find a way to avert the Albigensian crusade.

Eventually a regional standard would develop and the troubadours could spread Occitan as a language of culture throughout Europe, possibly alongside or even replacing French in that function.

There's probably a big overlap between this and the ongoing thread about a surviving English "Empire" in France. If England managed to hold significant portions of the Angevin realms in France well into the late middle ages (especially if they did so by breaking those realms off from the Kingdom of France entirely), an dialect of Occitan would be a good candidate to become the language of administration in the Aquitaine, and perhaps in Anjou as well. Breaking the political ties to Paris would remove much of the reason behind the propagation of Parisian French to those areas, and emphasizing linguistic differences would be a good tactical move for the English, to reduce cultural ties between their continental possessions and France proper.

The base of Standard French is the Anjou dialect.
