WI Obama says "the fundementals of the economy are strong"

Instead of John Mcain saying "the fundamentals of the economy are strong," Obama says it. Obama won the economy iotl but now he might seem naive there.

Obama would have lost the primaries to Hillary if he had been this naive, and we would walk forward into a century of light.

It wouldn't make sence for Obama to say it. He must blame Bush and make sure it splatt on McCain.

I think he might say something like "the fundamentals of the economy are strong" when McCain put his campaign on hold if McCain didn't say "the fundamentals of the economy are strong" before him. It makes some sence acctually. Unemployment isn't that bad for the worst crisis since the great depression, hightec and biotech are developing new stuff and so on.

Well, one major advantage Obama had was that people (based off of polls) trusted him more with economic issues. Thus, when the crisis came, they turned to him. McCain was never able to regain that ground. Maybe here that balance shifts little. Whether it means McCain wins depends how far that shift goes.

However, I frankly have a hard time seeing Barak stick his foot in his mouth that hard. Perhaps he'd have gone with one of the qualified version McCain tried later, but I don't know. Maybe I;m just biased because I voted for him.

Wouldn't have made a huge difference.

The fundamental base of the economy was and remains strong. The US can still produce high-tech goods and services and has a base population of skilled citizens to support itself.

The 'credit crisis' is a long due re-adjustment of pricing and controls and whilst there will be some pain whilst a realistic level is determined, civilization will not fail and go back to the dark ages.

Both candidates know this but........ if McCain says it then the press will report in it one context and label him a out of touch fool and if Obama says it then he is an old head on young shoulders with a stark yet refreshingly honest message for the outgoing administration.....etc

The press has picked their boy by this point and unless a couple of million die hard republicans are discovered in some key states - he loses.

Once Obama gets the democratic nomination the only way McCain can win is to POD in a truly neutral press or have an ASB moment......

"McCain names VP pick.......Hilary Clinton unveiled to the convention"

Right on target in every regard! McCain wasn't a fool to say it and many people did just take it out of context to make it look like he was out of touch.
