WI: Norwegian Invasion Stalemated?

What if, in 1940, the British fleet bound for Norway leaves two days earlier than it did with orders to force landings in southern Norway rather than establish beachheads in the north? Could the Brits have defeated the Nazis then and there, leading to one of the Allies' first real victories on the continent?

Hmmm. UK gets branded an aggressor, and Norwegian people fight them instead of Germans. German navy suffers huge losses if they decide to proceed with Weseruebung. Though I doubt they would. At least I guess they don't go to Narvik. They probably land in Oslo, possibly even welcomed by Norweigans. Anyway, as situation stalemates Fall Gelb eventually forces Allies to retreat from Norway, bad taste in their mouth and image of aggressors tarnishing their cause in eyes of neutral countries.

Oh, you misunderstand. I mean they force landings in German-occupied southern Norway rather than starting a beachhead a in the north two days later.

Oh, I see. You mean reinforce Namsos and Andalsnes. I do not see it ending any differently than Narvik campaign. Anyway Allies abandon Norway as Fall Gelb open, or slightly afterward, as they actually did. No way Norway campaign ends any differently than it actually did.
