WI: Norwegian Crusader States?

What if Norwegian Crusader States?

Vikings in Jerusalem.:p The first European King to lead a crusade was in fact King Sigurd of Norway yet the Norwegians played very little role in OTL Crusader States. What if instead the Norwegians put greater effort into crusading and establishing a significant presence in Outremer? For instance what would have been the result if Sigurd's predecessor Magnus or someone of Norwegian nobility had of joined the First Crusade?

That couldn't happen After Sigurds 's death there was conflict between his son and his half-brother that basically spiraled out into a period of anarchy.

As you said post Sigurd seems harder, any ideas with Mangus taking a greater role during the initial crusade?

Considering that Magnus was not born until 1115, about five years after the end of the crusade, definitely not. Unless you are speaking about Sigurd's father...but he was killed in Ireland in 1103.

Yes I was speaking of Sigurd's father. Was he doing anything crucial in 1096-97 that would have prevented him from going? It doesn't have to be Magnus himself just that he sends someone important with a few thousand men.

Magnus Barefoot was most likely preparing for his campaign in the Irish Sea region. Prior to 1096-1097 he was establishing his authority in Norway after becoming king in 1093. The stability was a bit better during his son's reign and I think that if Magnus were to leave shortly after establishing his authority back at home then it may cause some issues.
