WI No War of the Currents

Certainly the case. Not being up on the history of the rectifier I couldn't guess without research. I'd certainly love to if I had the time.

The rectifier wasn't invented by an "inventor" or "inventors". That is, the people involved didn't make their living puttering around labs and collecting patent royalties.

Instead, they were working an in industry where the lack of something like a rectifier was proving to be a handicap. So they invented or, perhaps more accurately, developed the rectifier and went on with their "real" jobs.

I'd love to see that other thread.
It wouldn't be what you'd think it was. :(

Myself and a few others were attempting to explain to the OP why the seemingly small advances he was proposing for very narrow applications would have huge consequences elsewhere. One of the changes involved aircraft using radios to correct artillery fire in real time, something that wasn't achieved until 1917 during WW1 in the OTL.

The OP was fixated on his time line naturally and chose not to explore the other applications of the many advances he was suggesting. Understandable, but disheartening.

Well, it IS a setting for a roleplaying game, so plausibility takes a backseat to playability.
Exactly. Different needs result in different standards. Not "better" standards or "worse" standards, but different standards.

What passes muster for plausibility here would be too stringent on the Fiction board, but any given story on the Fiction board is still as good as any given time line here.
