WI : No Unconditional Surrender, Germany sues for terms after Kursk?

He's suggesting that the cartooning of the Soviets is that they would hang every officer above the rank of Major because reasons.
TDM has acknowledged the nuance of this too.

Thanks Dan. Sure it's not literally true that they would have done that, but they were still out for blood. The Soviets wanted to inflict the harshest terms they could get on a defeated Germany. The systematic looting, and acts of rape in 1945 were what the Russians thought was just compensation for what the Germans did to the Soviet People. Stalin wanted between $10-20 Billion in reoperations, and that was when $10 Billion really meant something.

Yep and to be fair "Hang everyone of rank Major+" was a bit cartoonish. There will be gun fire and gulags as well I'm sure!

That said if the Russians are feeling betrayed by the wallies negotiating a separate peace (and they will feel betrayed since they* already didn't trust the wallies 100% and suspected they were being used to soak damage, plus they remember the civil war etc), they going to arrive in Berlin in an even less good mood than they already did !

*not an entirely one-sided position To be fair!
