Don't know a heck of a lot about the CoV. Googling Talleyrand and CoV brings up lots of websites claiming Talleyrand saved the day for France. Googling CoV brings up lots of websites which claim the alliance was never going to harshly punish France. There does seem to be an agreement that Talleyrand made himself one of the main players at the congress.

So...let's say T dies prior (alt history's favorite way of changing history). How different is the outcome?

From what little I know, it seems as though France really isn't going to be raked over the coals, so with or without T, France gets off easy. Did he steer the congress in any meaningful way over the rest of the disputes? It seems to me (again that caveat that I skimmed some headlines) that the congress was mostly about what to do with all the lands that Napoleon disrupted, not what to do with France.

I guess I'm looking for an education moreso than a WI
