WI: No Simpsons

As The Simpsons concludes its 23rd year on air, it's hard to deny that it's had a massive impact on American television, between putting Fox on the map and getting a lot of writers their starts (notably Conan O'Brien). Not to mention influencing pop culture and being one of the first cartoons broadcast in primetime.

So, what does modern TV look like if for whatever reason The Simpsons doesn't get picked up from the Tracy Ullman Show and made into its own show? What does Fox put in place of its famous Sunday-night cartoon block?

That would have been one good thing.

But would there even be an Adult Swim? And might this affect the popularity of anime in the US?

Also, no King of the Hill or Beavis and Butthead.

Waw! 23 years! that is a long period!

I think Simpsons added a lot to the TV, and without it we may wouldn't see a lot of other shows like Family Guy or South Park as Eric said..

I think the best option would be to have the "Simpsons" end around season 11, which was when the decline in quality became apparent. Groening himself said that he only wanted the series to last around 10 seasons (which would explain why "Futurama" began at the same time as the 10th season of the Simpsons). I reckon the reason it lasted so long was that FOX wants it to continue, regardless of how poor the series becomes, since it makes them alot of money.
One possibility is to have Groening tell FOX that they'd better get used to airing "Futurama" if they want him to stick around...
