WI: no Saxon Kings of Poland

The Saxon’s kings of Poland were notorious for there luxurious spending and well down right incompetence. They took Poland from being one of the premier nations in Europe after the Battle of Vienna to its eventual Partition. My question is what if a different set of kings ruled Poland during the period of 1697-1768 would they have been more successful resisting the Partition. Two options could be, to continue with the Sobieski Familiy and have James Louis Sobieski be the next king of Poland or have Maximilian II Emanuel, Elector of Bavaria come and be king as queen Marie Casimire wanted. James Louis Sobieski would be more pro-Austrian and Maximilian II Emanuel would be pro French, the Saxon kings were mostly pro Russian.

Though the kings of the house of Wettin certainly had their flaws, making them solely responsible for the Partition of Poland IMHO goes a bit far. Others contributed too, like Sejm and privileges like the Liberum Veto.

Another point is the term premier nation, they were one in Central Europe, but I wouldn't say, when you look at the whole of Europe, taht they were as important as Spain or France. Still a steep decline from important regional power to being partitioned. OTOH they could still end up losing some territories, but they, after some needed reforms, could end up surviving.

Though when prince-elector August the Strong of Saxony became king of Poland, Francis Louis, prince of Conti, actually had received more votes.

ITTL Partitions most likely won't happen. Without August II Poland-Lithuania won't take part in war against Sweden, which means not becoming battleground in Great Northern War, and subsequently no 1717 Silent Sejm and P-L won't become a Russian puppet.
