WI: No rise of the Yawhists in 750 BCE

Yeah a weird WI. At least for me... say that Jeroboam II enters into a personal union with Assyria before his death preventing the pressures of possible Assyrian invasion from causing the rise of the militant Yawhists and the birth of the Cult of Yahweh in the Kingdom of Israel. Because of this the Israelites never turn monotheistic and remain attached to a polytheistic cananitic religion with Yahweh-Sabaoth, Asherah and Baal.

What happens in the long term?

Personal union? As in Jeroboam ascends the throne of Assyria? That's... unlikely.

Regardless, what happens in Israel (Samaria) is a lot less important than what happens in Judea, where the Temple is based and where the series of kings from Uzziah to Hezekiah, and prophets like Isaiah, are intently reforming the religion (destroying private altars, for example). The best way to nip Judaism and its descendants in the bud is for Sennacherib to conquer Jerusalem in 701 BCE, IMHO.

The only problem with that was when the cult of Yahweh was formed in 750ish it was already too late. They used the later invasion of Israel and the fall of Jerusalem as a base to make many Monopolariats and later on, Monotheists. I was looking for a pre-750 BCE pod, but yeah personal union seems really unlikely, that was pulled out of the ass of a half-asleep me last night.
