WI: No Poland-Lithuania

What would have happened if Jadwiga and Wladyslaw had never married.

Say, one of them is born a different gender, marries someone else, or dies young.

What political-economic-social-military effects would this have?

I suppose Poland would have been more succesful in this case , because it would have had a smaller but easier to defend territory and a buffer against the Russians , who would become powerful later on .
Poland and Lithuania might still ally against the Teutonic Order in TTL.

Well, in 1383 (i think) Ziemowit IV, the prince of one of the parts of Mazovia, has almost kidnapped Jadwiga with intent to marry her. Then we would have a start of the new, Piast-Anjou dynasty in Poland.
