WI: No Marshall Plan

Let's say for whatever reason the United States is unable to give economic aid to its European and Asian allies. (The main part of the discussion is how much effect the Marshall Plan had upon Europe and Asia.) What would be the ramifications? The obvious would be laggard economic growth, but how much it slow down? Would this lead to the complete fall of Europe to Communism, as the US has feared?

USA:s diplomatic position would be severely hurt. Investment and aid were the cornerstones of forming a front to the east.

Probably communism would have a lot more power in Europe and Italy might go communist, while overall European economies would be weaker, so would the US without the stimulus caused by the Europeans using that money to buy US products.
