WI no major UK involvement in War on Terrorism as in OTL?

Hey Guys,

Today I was talking about Tony Blair with my Grandma and the main focus she put on his time as PM is of course the Iraq War and the Invasion of Afghanistan.

Now this got me thinking, how different would the worlds attitude, the Americans attitude and our own internal attitude be to the War on Terrorism, the Labour Party and also Tony Blair if Blair only sent in a minimal force to help in both the Iraq War and the Afghan War. Say he sends in around the same amount as Australia does (all I know is that's 2000 in the Invasion of Iraq.)

How would this affect future politics, foreign relations and also 7/7? Is this at all possible, or is Tony Blair to much of an American arse-licker to not go in all-guns-blazing

Perhaps he sends slightly more troops to Afghanistan and uses that as an excuse to not go into Iraq at all.

"Sorry George, but I've been talking with my army generals, and they tell me that the units sent to Afghanistan or in rotation to go are going to be a logistical nightmare in regards to another commitment. I can't afford to send troops to Iraq, though I can have the navy send a carrier group."

Blair's problem was his idealism, at least in terms of results, in this case a Liberal Interventionist mindset, plus his efforts to 'tame' America, appearing as an international diplomat.

I seriously doubt Blair would act any differently to OTL, unless Bin Laden is taken out, greatly weakening the steam of the WoT. Even then, given the Bush Administration's approach to Saddam I doubt the Iraq War wouldn't happen either. The recent inquiries in Britain suggest Blair was very much into the idea of creating a cause for war in order to get his utopian result.

I'd say a better bet might be a different President, someone who isn't as obsessed with Iraq, or is at least more cynical in terms of geopolitics (organise a coup in Baghdad to an acceptable virulently anti-Islamist Baathish regime) but almost a year between the 2000 elections and 9/11 leaves alot of butterflies in that department
