The Long Pause was a delay in Polynesian expansion lasting around 2,000 years. They had already begun their expansion throughout the Pacific and colonized much of Polynesia. Despite the fact that there were other islands just as reachable, they stopped large-scale voyaging for a period of about 2,000 years, known as the Long Pause. Various causes and theories have been proposed, the one that I am sticking with is a lack of the technology to continue voyaging that far. So let's say that the appropriate tech is developed earlier, and the Polynesian expansion continues, meaning they reach Hawaii and Easter Island in the BC era, and might reach the Americas. What kind of crops and animals are likely to get traded throughout the Pacific? Could chickens and pigs be introduced to the Americas? What kind of polities might develop?
