Not so. The Zionist movement began in the 19th century. Britain recognised its goals in 1917, the year we overran Palestine.

A timeline witout a Holocaust (like Faelin's super-duper Stresemann timeline! [/shameless plug]) does have fascinating consequences, though. I could barely begin to touch on them, ad they'd be differant for every Holocaust-avoidal.

This brings up the question of, what if Israel was created earlier? If israel was created in the 20's or 30's would Hitler deport instead of exterminating the Jews?

Unlikely ...

Any Israeli State, Particularly One Based upon English Common Law, Would Tend to be a British Ally in The Event of a Major War ...

This is The SAME Reason Why Hitler Only Rarely Allowed Jews to Emigrate to The United States; They were Much Too Likely to Return, Armed!

Even before the outbreak of war? Could it be seen as alternative to the creation of Ghettos in the 30's?

Yes and No ...

It is NEVER a Good Idea to Let a Subject Minority Plant Ex-Patriots Abroad, Especially if you Intend to Inflict Harm upon their Brethren Back Home; Just Witness The Exploits of The Free Polish Forces ...

Allowing Jews to Settle Outside of Germany's Sphere of Influence would Have been Foolish under The Very Best of Circumstances; After Kristallnacht, It would Have been Downright Insane!

IT would mean more violence ofcourse..

but thats natural as states will expand and form more coherant entities.
for example egypt has alwasy expanded south into sudan and north into syria.

without Isreal, you would see an Egypt wank as egypt incorporates Libya
the Sudan and bilad al sham(syria, lebenon, jordan and palestine)

Yeah<, Id ont think that would happen. with no Israel polarising the region, Jordan, Iraq, maybe even Syria would remain US Allies, and facing Egypt, which would either be a nominal US ally or a strong Soviet Ally. Egypt might take Sudan, but Bilad Al Sham and Libya? thats stretching it.
