So let's assume Himmler isn't in his position. Either he isn't born, maneges to join army in WW1 and is killed, is killed later, decides not to get into politics or whatever.
How does SS and affiliated organisations develop? While there were other people who were as ruthless as him he combined the ruthlessnes with effectiveness and good sense for political manuvring.
Without him would SS remain small bodyguard force, expanded into small political police responsible for guarding KZs? No W-SS or it stays small (regimental, divisional sized tops)?
